loving the babies

polka is the sweetest little thing! i was going through old pictures last night and ran across this gem!

what a doll! she is always very good around kids. loves to give kisses, and i think just being with the babies makes her happy...she's never complained anyway!

polka doka spotted dog

we built polka this really neat dog house. we drove around town for awhile to find pieces of wood that no one wanted (aka dumpster diving) and took it all home. it is really a fantastic little thing. definitely built to last. we even put some shingles down on the roof so that it is well protected. now if i could only find a way to cover up the door portion without having it permanently closed. anywhoo check out the pic below.

new pics

i finally have new pictures of she-la's playland. (do not pay attention to the date on the pic, it is incorrect)

the barrel on the ceiling closest to the front is where she spends most of her time, good view of the tv i think. there is a walkway from that barrel to the other and to the hammock. she is starting to spend more time in the hammock, usually after taking a bath.

these are the newest pics, more to come when she is awake and playing!

polka night

spent a little alone time with polka-my-dot last night. took a walk, played some tug-o-war and had some pizza. she is such a great girl; easy to talk to, understanding...ever have a pet like that? you are able to just have a moment when you know for sure you guys are on the same level and know what each other is trying to communicate? of course she was looking at me like, "i know what you mean...I understand what you are going through...more pizza for me?" yeah it really is all about the food for that girl. can't blame her, it was really good pizza!

"that's why we make things out of crap"

we went to a local store recently with the kids. you know spring is in the air and there are sales a plenty on outdoor items. one display we stopped at was for kites, all different kinds. my daughter picked one out that is something i haven't seen before. instead of the usual sticks that are used to hold the kite in place, the kite was inflatable where the sticks would go. that was pretty interesting (they cost about $5 each) so we picked a couple out and took them home. of course we were all excited to see what this new kite situation was all about so we opened it up right away and set the thing up. so my girl is throwing it in the air and catching it, throwing it to she-la and watching her run. i turn away to start setting my boy up with his drink and dad goes potty and all of a sudden... POP!!! my girl had decided it would be neat to jump on the inflated part and smile while saying, "popped it!" Dad, having heard the pop, gives some sound information, "see, that's why we make things out of crap we find around the house." lmao...rotfl...it was just fantastic how quickly the point of paying for stuff we could build better was pointless. the kite is sadly out of commision, but now my girl has a neat wall decoration for the play room!

HAHAHAHA....HAHAHAHA...funny

I found this on The "Official" Cat Myspace Page.

How To Give A Cat A Pill

1. Pick up cat and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth, pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.

2. Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process.

3. Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy pill away.

4. Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm, holding rear paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten.

5. Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe. Call spouse from garden.

6. Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear paws. Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.

7. Retrieve cat from curtain rail, get another pill from foil wrap. Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set to one side for gluing later.

8. Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with head just visible from below armpit. Put pill in end of drinking straw, force mouth open with pencil and blow down drinking straw.

9. Check label to make sure pill not harmful to humans, drink 1 beer to take taste away. Apply Band-Aid to spouse's forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.

10. Retrieve cat from neighbor's shed. Get another pill. Open another beer. Place cat in cupboard, and close door on neck, leave head showing.
Force mouth open with dessert spoon. Flick pill down throat with elastic band.

11. Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges.
Drink beer. Fetch bottle of scotch. Pour shot, drink. Apply cold compress to cheek and check records for date of last tetanus shot. Apply whiskey compress to cheek to disinfect. Toss back another shot. Throw Tee shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.

12. Call fire department to retrieve the damn cat from across the road.
Apologize to neighbor who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid cat. Take last pill from foil wrap.

13. Tie the little bastard's front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table, find heavy-duty pruning gloves from shed. Push pill into mouth followed by large piece of filet steak. Be rough about it. Hold head vertically and pour 2 pints of water down throat to wash pill down.

14. Consume remainder of scotch. Get spouse to drive you to the emergency room, sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and forearm and removes pill remnants from right eye. Call furniture shop on way home to order new table.

15. Arrange for SPCA to collect mutant cat from hell and call local pet shop to see if they have any hamsters.

kitty land

My little kitty is the best. She-la finally decided she likes her hammock. My husband has made her a little playland to have as her own and just recently we added a hammock. Well it really was a baby sling that we took apart and screwed to the ceiling so that she has a place to kick it. We actually put it up about two weeks ago but She-la at first was not havin' any of it...at all. We put her in and she quickly jolted out then down the pole and was in the bedroom hiding before we could see where she went. We left her alone and just waited to see what she would do. A copule days went by and we would see her gently paw at the thing to see if it would move. Pawing became stepping into, stepping into became walking on, walking on finally became laying on after about a week. Once she was comfortable with being in it we would see her lay down and start to hang out. While she would be kickin' it she would swish her tail back and forth, you know how cats do. Well it became a game to try to catch her tail.
